This week I had a therapy appointment. I was ready to open up about some difficult things, and had a lot on my mind

I got off the bus a block and a half away from the therapist’s office, and began the walk over. As I walked, I saw a man approaching on the sidewalk me carrying a bag of fruit. It seemed he had just left the fruit and veggie stand that the therapy office shares the parking lot with. We smiled warmly at each other and said “hi” as we passed.

About five steps after we had passed each other, I hear him call: “hey, do you want some of these peaches?” I hesitated for a moment and said “sure!” So he walked back over, telling me he had just bought this bag of peaches, but they were all ready right now and he just didn’t know how he was going to finish them. He handed me two, I thanked him, and we went our separate ways. It really meant a lot to me to have a complete stranger reach out to me for a moment with a simple gift of fruit and a smile.
